The spot seems perfect and probably relatively is. I waited quite a bit though with a sign to Alaska :) After 1,5 h a great guy going to Calgary stopped (actually drove back to get me after passing me and then reconsidering) and brought me in 2 days to Winnipeg.―K9f100

Heading north-west towards Thunder Bay, Winnipeg and farther on.Probably the best it gets. Out of the city, so who goes, goes far. You probably can start closer to the city centre, I started here as I got dropped off close by.
Long straight stretch for cars to see you, a lot of place to pull over.
